The head of the Jewish organization of prisoners of Nazi concentration camps and ghettos Aron Zusman has died
Moscow. October 8. INTERFAX - Chairman of the Presidium of the Jewish organization of prisoners of Nazi concentration camps and ghettos RUF Aron Zusman died on October 7 in Moscow at the age of 83, the press service of the chief Rabbi of Russia Berl Lazar said on Thursday.
Zusman created and headed this organization since April 1992. "Being a minor prisoner of the "dead Loop" concentration camp, he was well aware of the needs and problems of the members of his organization, showed sensitivity, respect, and care for everyone who asked for help," the report says.
RUF provided social, medical, psychological, and legal rehabilitation for victims of the Holocaust.
In a message of condolence to the family of the deceased, Rabbi Lazar admitted that Zusman was dear to him as a man who for many years fought for the preservation of historical truth, the perpetuation of the memory of the victims of the Holocaust, and the rights of those who experienced the horrors of the Nazi camps and ghettos. He recalled that, according to Jewish tradition, death is not the disappearance of a person.
"Aron Grigoryevich got a very big task from God, and during his long life he fulfilled it with honor, becoming a living example for many. And if we remember the lessons of a person dear to us, follow his example - then this person's life continues, although he himself has left us," the Rabbi writes.
Zusman's funeral will take place on Friday at the new Vostryakov Jewish cemetery at 14:00.
