Kazan. April 23. INTERFAX-a Traditional charity meal (Republican iftar) in Ramadan will cover tens of thousands of people in Tatarstan, but due to the pandemic will be held "with home delivery", according to the website of the spiritual Directorate of Muslims of the Republic on Thursday.
"The Republican iftar will cover up to 30 thousand people across the region, doubling the number of participants compared to last year," the report says.
According to the DUMA of Tatarstan, this will be the largest meal in the history of their holding in the region. However, there will be no mass gathering of people this time.
"Iftar is implemented in the "home delivery" mode and with a focus exclusively on the needy categories of the population. In addition, it will not take place on a single day, as previously, but will last throughout the month of Ramadan," the message reads.
The charity event starts on Friday, the first day of lent.
Earlier, the DUMA of Tatarstan reported that this year the faithful will not have collective prayers in mosques. The corresponding decision of the Ulema Council of the Spiritual administration of Muslims of Tatarstan was made in early April.
The Holy month of Ramadan will end on may 24 with the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
