Collective prayers in mosques are temporarily banned in Tajikistan due to the threat of coronavirus
Dushanbe. April 17. INTERFAX - the Council of ulama of the Islamic center of Tajikistan in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus has decided to temporarily stop reading namaz in mosques, the religious organization told Interfax on Friday.
"The resolution was signed yesterday evening by Chairman of the Council of Ulema of the Islamic center of Sadacharam Abdulkodira. The Board of the Ulema Council decided to ban from April 18, 2020, until the situation improves, the holding of five daily, Friday prayers and Tarawih in mosques and prayer houses in the country. It is forbidden to hold any meetings during the month of Ramadan-Tarawih, iftar, idgardak and other events," said a representative of the Council.
According to him, the decision was made in connection with the global COVID-19 pandemic and in accordance with the experience of Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran and Pakistan, which also banned prayer in mosques. Similar measures have been taken in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The Ulema Council called on believers to strictly follow the recommendations of the Ministry of health of Tajikistan on the prevention of coronavirus.
