Patriarch Kirill is in quarantine after coming into contact with a coronavirus patient
Moscow. October 8. INTERFAX - Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and all Russia did not take part in the traditional celebration of the repose of St. Sergius of Radonezh, which is celebrated on October 8, due to the fact that he is in quarantine.
"It is with the deepest regret that I would like to testify that I cannot share the joy of prayerful communion with all of you this time. The reason for this was my recent contacts with a person who was found to have a coronavirus infection. The time required by medical regulations for my personal quarantine has not yet expired. I considered it impossible to expose all of you to the risk of infection," the Patriarch said in a message published on Thursday to the vicar of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra, Bishop Thomas.
The Patriarch reminded that the current pandemic is a serious test that makes it possible to verify the power of prayer.
"There are two ways out of any test, including the current one: either a person will break down internally, losing faith and hope for God's help, or he will come out of the situation strengthened with the realization that everything is happening by the Providence of the Almighty. May God grant that the trials we are going through will serve to strengthen our people's faith and convert many people to Christ," the Primate wished.
