Russians have become more loyal to marriages with non-believers-survey
Moscow. July 8. INTERFAX-over the past ten years, the number of Russians who oppose marriage with people of other faiths has significantly decreased, according to a survey by VTSIOM, received on Wednesday in Interfax.
If ten years ago, almost half of Russians (48%) disapproved of the idea of marrying a close relative with a person of another religion, at the moment this position is held by 30% of respondents.
The study showed that the number of Russians who are neutral about the fact that their relative's future life partner professes a different religion has grown-from 37% to 51% of respondents, respectively. At the same time, the number of Russians who are ready to approve such a marriage has more than doubled - from 7% to 16%.
The all-Russian initiative survey, dedicated to the Day of family, love and fidelity, was conducted on July 5, 2020 among 1,600 respondents aged 18 and over.
