Taoism is a religion?

Namaste. I periodically search for various useful books and sites on the topic of Taoism on the Internet, but I can say with great confidence that the majority of this information is garbage. Often I come across materials about religious Taoism, which is quite simplified and abbreviated, decorated with rituals and rules, which is not so effective for modern society. For a society where science is widespread, practical knowledge may be appropriate. But if we are talking about the original practical Taoism, there is almost no information here. Many believe that Taoism is a religion. But is this really the case? I will try to answer this question in the simplest possible language.

Religious Taoism appeared relatively recently (in the 4th-5th century BC). Its founder is master Lao Tzu, who wrote one of the most famous Taoist treatises, the Tao Te Ching, which contains the basic ideas of Taoist philosophy. Here it is worth remembering that it was religious Taoism that was founded by Lao Tzu, and not Taoism in General. This tradition existed long before Lao Tzu. In fact, the religious form of Taoism is simplified and curtailed, so it is quite difficult to fully realize its spiritual potential, but it is easy to spread it, imposing competition on Buddhism.

Today, Taoism, as well as other religions that are foreign to the West, are mostly taken lightly, they do not see anything practical and useful in it. As for the numerous articles about religious Taoism, they do not help, but on the contrary – prevent it from spreading. And who was invented by Chinese medicine, and many philosophical ideas? Right! Taoist masters.

It is much more correct to interpret Taoism as a system
self-development of a person, which is of great benefit to those who practice it.
as for religious Taoism, it is only an offshoot from the
the original Taoism, which has been known for more than 5,000 years.
in my opinion, religious Taoism is already outdated and completely outdated for our time
This doesn't fit.

Taoism is a religion. This is primarily a religion. This was originally the case. So it is now. Just when you think about it, it becomes clear that such high meanings, philosophy has never given birth to and will never be able to squeeze out of itself. Taoism is a natural development to the Taoist religious worldview. It is true that the religious way of thinking is completely beyond the intellect of many people. It's simple. Philosophy needs creativity, and religion needs practice.
